Information about the course: This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to undertake an appropriate first response to a workplace fire incident. It covers recognising and assessing a fire, raising the alarm, selecting and using appropriate first-response firefighting equipment, and safely evacuating when required. The unit is intended for workers who may be required to respond to workplace fires beyond simply evacuating to an assembly point. It covers first-response and defensive firefighting only, rather than aggressive firefighting activities. Target Audience: Workers who may be required to provide an initial response to a workplace fire, particularly in industrial, production, processing, hydrocarbon, petrochemical or major-hazard environments.
